Weekend Treasures

Some amazing treasures picked up at flea markets and stoop sales this weekend. Including a box of vintage thread picked up for $5, there are some really beautiful colors and textures in there... not to mention the gorgeous wooden spools! We also scored an old oak dresser, the Rolling Stones: Beggar's Banquet on vinyl & a lovely throw pillow made from a vintage kilim.

Now I have to come up with some great projects for all of this beautiful thread!

Lovely colors, the vintage thread is getting rare, I hope you post more pictures soon.

slow spring

It's been a slow moving spring. Which, admittedly makes me a little cranky. I really appreciated this post by Saipua earlier this week... a nice reminder that nature can and should take it's time.

Also, happy birthday to my amazing husband! xo

(photo taken today from my third story window)

Nice picture, it gets pretty cold out there in New York in the winter doesn't it? Anyway belated happy birthday to your husband. Maybe a few months late but still. :)

Meyer Lemon Dinner: Proof!

Admittedly, I went a little overboard with the lemons yesterday. They were good but unfortunately, J isn't as keen on lemon-y food as I am.

DINNER:

Roasted asparagus with onion, rosemary, lemon, olive oil, salt + pepper in the oven.

I also had a pan of carrots, chickpeas, thyme, onion with maybe a cup of homemade veggie stock... and you guessed it, more lemons! simmering away in the oven for about an hour.

Quinoa cooked on the stove and as with most meals at our house, everything goes into one bowl.

The citrus went a bit bitter so I should have used lemon or just used zest.

Today's post was inspired by my girl Meg, who just started a cooking blog! I used to recipes and food stuff all the time in the early days of Paper City Design... I think I need to branch back out! Congrats on the blog Meg, it looks awesome and I can't wait to see what you make next!

I mostly like the lemon. Looking good in photos, but you have to do some cooked some of the species.

It looks absolutely lovely, I do hope it tastes just as good too. What is the recipe that you used? Would love to learn about it. Thanks in advance.

Chalk drawing: Meyer Lemon

Last night I cut into one of the Meyer Lemons I picked up last week. I didn't really know the difference between the Meyer and my regular lemons but did know the Meyer is only available seasonally I picked some up.

J commented that it was more like an orange and was excited about this new discovery. Curious, a quick google search today showed me he was 100% right! A Meyer Lemon is a lemon-orange hybrid of sorts—who knew!

I'm thinking I'll roast some up with rosemary, asparagus + quinoa tonight! I love this list of 100 things to do with a Meyer Lemon from the LA Times.

Candy the peel, dusting with superfine sugar. Mmm, so good. It's fun to read that list, didn't know that you can do so many things with a lemon.

Meyer Lemon was brought into the US in the early 1900s by a man named Frank Meyer, after whom the lemons are named.

Brunch

This week's chalk drawing inspired by this

Now have a good weekend and when your brunch server asks you "how you like your eggs" tomorrow try not to burst out laughing like our table inevitably does.

I like them fried. Nice graffiti

Mississippi Color

I love the similarities in color from these first two shots. I took both on our trip to Mississippi last month. The beach photo was taken on an evening in Biloxi, where my little sister lives. The early morning fog was taken from inside the car on our way back to the New Orleans airport to fly home. The fog was really amazing that morning even if my blurry photo isn't so stellar.

And I couldn't resist the construction-worker orange stenciled type on the dock in Biloxi.

Dreaming of warmer weather up here. It's been snow/sleeting for days now.

I like photography as my hobby. And wild life photography is my favorite.

Yeah, it gets pretty cold in Mississippi. You should visit the Hattieburg Zoo at Kamper park. It is amazing, a very nice zoo. You seem like a person who would appreciate something like that. :)

Really very good Pictures. Thanks for sharing. Brand Development

Very beautiful photos as you mentioned in these post. I also like similarities color photos. I mainly like the photos of nature and technology. All the photos say something.

I have a book and its name is "Photo Say". I see these pictures and really want to say that these pictures want to say something. When we think about deeply then we can understand message of the photo.

Very beautiful photos. Several designated areas of the beach provide perfect nesting areas for an endangered bird species known as Least Terns. Visitors are restricted from these areas, but encouraged to stop, take pictures, and enjoy these unique and beautiful birds.

Lucky Friday

Admittedly an afterthought, I did however make this St. Patrick's Day chalk drawing yesterday (it was just too dark to photograph when I drew it).

as a bonus, I'm sending you some good Friday vibes this week with a sweet video by Lykke Li.

enjoy + have a great weekend!

Pretty interesting video, she's really a good dancer. What is the called in the video? Is the song dance dance dance, Lykke Li's own song? If it is, then I am more impressed than I already am.

Monday in the studio

A quick view into my morning.

+ Lykke Li on repeat.

+ my printer ran out of magenta & yellow toner yesterday... will be rush ordering new toner in 8 min. (not the greatest timing, 3 weddings in production & one shower... clients, do you read this? if so, do. not. worry.)

+ not pictured the dough-boy i just ate for breakfast. (read: fried dough with cinnamon + sugar — from leftover pizza dough Saturday night, shameful.)

3 weddings in production certainly is tight schedule and I think its a great breakfast idea to be having fried dough. Leftovers like pizza makes great breakfast when there's no time :) marina village boynton beach
